11/08/2010: gang involvement

On this week’s show, we look at street gangs in Los Angeles from the perspective of three women whose lives are deeply affected by gang life.

A single mother and her three daughters deal with their brother’s choice to leave home rather than join his hood, and a young woman who joined a street gang rivaling the one who runs the street that she lives on talks about “showing pride” and “having heart” for her hood. And we preview an avantgarde film series now screening at L.A. Film Forum.
